For more than 30 years Dr. Sylvia Marion Carley has worked in higher education with an emphasis in developing curriculum and student success programs. She has extensive experience in developing and implementing academic strategies, operating programs funded through state and federal sources, and oversight of institutional compliance with state and national standards. She has been a college professor, Dean, Vice President of Student Services and Education,  and Campus President at Florida’s fifth largest community college.

In 2007, Sylvia established Marion & Associates with the mission of providing independent support, guidance and solutions to educational entities in matters of institutional and academic compliance, diversity compliance and regulatory challenges.

In addition to her many years in the higher education field, Sylvia has also been the recipient of numerous awards in recognition of her impact on mentoring and leadership development. In 2005 she was awarded the national award in leadership by the Chair Academy. She has served as a gubernatorial appointee the Florida Education Fund.   In 2006 she founded Black, Brown & College Bound a summit which focuses on strategies and best practices of retaining and graduating African American and Latino males.  In 2007, she also led the academic assessment and review of her college and was recognized as having no recommendations from the accrediting body.
